Demand calves not be treated as waste products

Dairy cows are kept pregnant in order to maximise milk production. Once baby calves are born they are separated from their mothers and killed before they are a week old. It is legally permissable to withhold liquid food from these calves for the last 30 hours of their lives while they are trucked and prepared for slaughter.
