Stop Tuolumne County Board of Education from Segregating Students with Special Needs

We are submitting this petition to express our concerns regarding the creation of a segregated campus for the Tuolumne County Special Education students as described in the Union Democrat article published August 12, 2014. We believe that students in special education classes need to be taught on inclusive campuses, and that the segregation of these classrooms on a separate campus is detrimental to all students, both those with special needs and those without special needs. We encourage the Tuolumne County Board of Education to maintain its special education classrooms on integrated campuses, where all students live, play, eat and learn together on a daily basis, overcome their differences and inspire each other to reach their full potential.
