Tell Scott Walker Women Are His Constituents Too

  • von: Kelsey Dean

As Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker has a responsibility to advocate for the best interests of every citizen, yet his record on issues affecting women is abysmal--and needs to change. Walker has not only endangered the health of women, but seriously limited their rights.

Walker repealed the Equal Pay Enforcement Act that removed protection against discrimination for women, minorities, and the disabled community. He limited low-income women’s access to birth control, and shut down all state funding for Planned Parenthood. He aims for a total state outlaw of abortion, even in cases of rape or incest.

Moreover, 57% of low-wage workers in Wisconsin are women, and yet Walker vehemently opposes a minimum wage increase. Not only does Walker refuse to provide women with the health and reproductive care they need, he refuses to provide them with the basic income to provide care for themselves.

Walker’s policies have endangered women in Wisconsin and a clear message needs to be sent to the Governor that this in unacceptable. Sign this petition to tell Governor Walker that his policies need to protect and empower women, not endanger them.

Dear Governor Walker,

I am deeply concerned by the negative impact your policies have had on the welfare of women in the state of Wisconsin. I hope this message will enlighten you to the public's outrage at these policies and how hurtful they have been to women.

Women represent 57% of the low-wage workforce, yet by not raising the minimum wage you are making it impossible for them to provide for themselves so they can receive the healthcare and nourishment they need.

Similarly, by repealing the Equal Pay Enforcement Act, you left women open to discrimination in the workplace.

You have made life much more difficult for women in Wisconsin. I implore you to change your position to help women, not hurt them.

Thank you for your consideration,

A Concerned Citizen
