    Defenders of Wildlife
    Help Save Endangered Whooping Cranes
Whooping cranes are one of the most endangered animals in the country.

Fewer than 600 remain in the wild in North America.

The main threats to whooping cranes include loss of critical wetland habitat, low genetic diversity, power line collisions, predation, disturbance of nest sites and illegal shootings.

The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge is a globally important bird area, and it is home to endangered whooping cranes.

Developers are appealing a judge’s decision to block construction of a destructive $492 million transmission line that would cut through this habitat so they can build this massive power line through the Refuge anyway.

But there is still hope of recovery if we act now.

Watch the video to see how we’re helping. For a limited time, if you complete all the steps, The Rainforest Site will fund the equivalent of 21.7 square feet of protected habitat
