Yet the leader of one of the most powerful banks in the world won't even acknowledge that fossil fuels are causing climate change at all, let alone that poor countries are suffering from it. Someone who refuses to recognize basic science is unfit to serve in such a powerful position!

Yet while onstage at an event recently, Trump-appointed World Bank President David Malpass refused to state plainly that the burning of fossil fuels contributes to climate change, claiming that he is "not a scientist."
This is a cop out -- and a form of climate denialism -- plain and simple. And anyone denying the scientifically proven reality of human-caused climate change is not fit to serve as a leader of one of the most important financial institutions in the world.The President of the World Bank must understand how grave of a threat climate catastrophe poses to all of us, and especially to poorer countries who rely on the bank to fund vital social, environmental, and infrastructure projects.
