Stop littering in the Everest Base Camp

Concerns about the sustainability of adventure tourism have been raised by the piles of rubbish that trekkers in the Everest Region have been leaving behind on the routes. Locals have complained that littering by trekkers and mountaineers is damaging the ecosystem.

After eating packaged food, visitors throw the wrapper on the trail. As a result, on the trekking trails, heaps of wrappers from noodles, chocolate, biscuits, and other products wind up in landfills. This is a result of improper waste management. If hikers are made aware of the issue, it can be resolved.

Dustbins are available at the hotels for the disposal of trash, however, they are not present on the trekking trails. Trekkers typically bring packaged meals like chocolate, bottled water, and drinks with them. The bottles and wrappers are discarded. Some residents claimed that as the number of Nepali trekkers increased, the amount of trash along the paths also increased. The waste heaps become a major worry

According to studies, trekkers who take a helicopter to EBC rather than walking the entire trip report that these kinds of pollution problems are resolved.
