The CDC studies violence of all kinds in order to help find solutions. But while there is now a body of research on important issues like child abuse, suicides, sexual assaults, and youth violence, there is almost no fire arms-related research.
If we had more information about gun-related violence, we would have a much bigger chance of figuring out what interventions would be the most effective. We could save lives.
Even the Amendment's author, Jay Dickey, thinks that it should be repealed. He says the research restrictions have gone too far. Only the National Rifle Association (NRA) seems to think that researching gun violence is a bad idea. Let's tell Congress NOW IS THE TIME to stand up to the NRA and repeal the Dickey Amendment.
