Speeding cars are killing cats. Help. Animal Crossing sign on Loxahatchee Road, Florida.

I am trying to get the city/state to install an animal crossing & speed limit signs on a busy road (Loxahatchee road). There is a registered cat colony across the street on an empty lot, but the cats have to cross the street to the CVS plaza, where they are fed by a group of caring volunteers. It is impossible to feed them in the empty lot because of raccoons and the woods. The cats die in the process because the cars do not follow the speed limit (25 miles) as the sign is posted much further along the road. Raccoons and turtles would benefit greatly because of the sign. They cross the road in the night looking for food. I believe our community is built on a land that was previously a strawberry farm and helped provide the food to the raccoons. They get run over by the cars in the attempts to get to the food source. I have tried to rescue an ailing turtle once, but once the shell is cracked, infected with flies, it becomes almost impossible. The other day, my favorite black cat was dead in the middle of the road. I had watched her climb the trees in the CVS plaza; she was active and smart. A beautiful, green iguana was killed by a speeding car. I pulled over, but it was too late. This is becoming even more crucial as traffic (especially big, loud trucks carrying construction material) on Loxahatchee road is increasing daily, due to new housing developments being built along the west side of Loxahatchee road. So I believe this situation is in dire need of immediate action.
