House Republicans have just released details on their wildly expensive anti-immigration and mass deportation bill, and it's obvious from the outset that we can NEVER let this bill become law.
The American Dream will now be pay-to-play, as asylum seekers would have to pay $1000 just to file an application. Employment authorization? That'll be another $550. Protected status for kids? Another $500. Unaccompanied children's sponsors? A $3,500 fee.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The GOP wants to spend $80 billion to vastly expand America's immigrant gulag system, with $45 billion to build concentration camps, $100 million to deport unaccompanied children, and $75 million to rapidly deport criminal suspects before due process can be completed.
This bill is an attack on everything this country stands for. It is a declaration that compassion, security, and welcome come with a price — while cruelty is cheap and plentiful.
