Justice for Toby, the Colorado Cat Killed in a Neighbor's Backyard

My name is Eric, and I run I Love Every Dog. I am writing about Toby, a beloved family cat who belonged to a 15-year-old boy in El Paso County, Colorado, and who was killed after a four-year feud between neighbors boiled over onto an innocent animal.

Surveillance footage allegedly shows a neighbor, Ashley Losey, tossing Toby into her own backyard, where her dogs chased and killed him. Toby's family had no idea what had happened to their cat until that footage surfaced. A 15-year-old boy lost his pet in the cruelest way imaginable, as collateral damage in a dispute that had nothing to do with him.

Losey has been charged with a Class 4 felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals, along with tampering with evidence, two counts of owning a dangerous dog, and two counts of child abuse with no injury. These serious charges reflect the gravity of the crime. Losey appeared for a disposition hearing in late August, and it is still not clear whether this case will be resolved through a plea deal or go to trial.

I am asking 4th Judicial District Attorney Michael Allen to see this case through to a resolution that reflects the full weight of what was done to Toby and to his family, and to make sure Losey's dogs remain subject to Colorado's dangerous dog statute so no other family's pet or child is ever put at risk again.

A 15-year-old boy should not have had to learn that grown-up disputes can end with his cat's death. Please sign to ask District Attorney Michael Allen to deliver real justice for Toby.
