I have been following many pages on Facebook voicing opinions on the state of our town 'Penzance'. My personal opinion is that homelessness can not be helped, seeing them in doorways etc does not bother me in the slightest. They have to shelter somewhere. BUT.... when they are vandalising buildings, harassing people and leaving rubbish lying around (not to mention needles, although who are we to blame all the homeless, those may be people with homes. You cannot label guilty, until proven) and fighting, then our police force and the council should be stepping up and doing something about it. I'm pretty sure if I smashed a window in our local town I would be arrested and given a warning. What are we paying our taxes for if our local council and police force are not doing what we pay them to do? I have made this petition to have our taxes reduced until action is taken in our local town.
