Thank Maryland for Banning the Shark Fin Trade

House Bill 1148 was passed by Maryland House of Delegates who voted 119-15 to ban the trade shark fins. On April 4, Senate Bill 592 passed with the Senate voting 41-6 in favor of the ban. Now Governor O'Malley needs to sign the bills into law; encourage him to do so.

Shark fins are an Asian delicacy, and used to make soup in certian ethnic cultures. Sharks are caught, have their fins chopped off, and are thrown back int the ocean to sink and drown, being unable to swim. Aside from shark finning being inhumane and barbarically cruel, many sharks are now endangered. Currently, there are 39 endangered sharks and rays.

Tell Goveror O'Malley to sign HB 1148 and SB 592 into law.Thank Maryland for banning shark fins sold in their state.
