Keep the Memories of Harlem Alive

The entire nation is being gentrified and both poor and working class people are being affected. It is not just an economic issue. It is a racial issue as well. Millions of people from around have lived or visited New York City. One of the most prominent and famous aspects of New York City is the Harlem area. Harlem is large and wide. It covers both the East and West Side of Manhattan. Central Park is also situated on both sides of Manhattan as well. With housing and the cost of living skyrocketing dramatically, many people are trying to make ends meet. Many people of color are especially affected by this. Harlem is about all levels of culture, art work, music and entertainment. People of color contributed greatly to Harlem's development from the 1920s up to today. There is an effort to remove both the contributions and memories of Harlem as they applied to people of color. Gentrification is about displacing poor and working class people farther and farther away. It is especially bad to deny or try to remove the contributions of people of color. The effort to rename Harlem to SoHA is just that. It's an effort to deny and dismiss the contributions and history of people of color. It needs to be stopped. Harlem, its name and its memories should be allowed to live on without being erased. Please spread the word.
