Stop Using Animals in Medical Training

  • von: Animal Advocates

Live animals, such as ferrets, continue to be used at the Brody School of Medicine of the East Carolina University to teach students endotracheal intubation-medical procedure in which a tube is placed into the windpipe, through the mouth or the nose.

In over 95% of the Advanced Trauma Life Support classes taught in the United States, non-animal models are used instead of the cruel and outdated practice of using live animals for experimentation.

Live animal experimentation traumatizes the animal needlessly. We ask the Dean of East Carolina University to stop using live animals and replace it with the alternatives available- providing a better educational experience that does not included unnecessary animal cruelty.
