A few weeks ago 74 years old man in a village near the city of OSIJEK, CROATIA, brutally beat his helpless dog Felix with a metal rod, because he runs away from owner's yard, spent all his life tied with a metal chain. Poor dog was rescued and medically treated by Osijek animal welfare volunteers. Unfortunately, Felix passed away today, due to his severe injuries. The owner claimed that he fed Felix all his life, but the dog was disobedient, so he deserved to be beaten to death. "It's like a mother who punishes his disobedient child, therefore it's nothing wrong with this", he said.
There is a serious doubt that owner will be imprisoned, because of his age (74), so I want to urge Croatian State Attorney's Office, and its head, Mr. Dinko Cvitan to demand maximal penalty for this crime.
Please, help to send a message to all animal abusers in Croatia. Killing and abusing animals is a serious crime, and perpetrators must be imprisoned for this, regardless any circumstances.
