Call for ALL cold calling to residential telephone numbers to be banned.

Cold calling, or "nuisance calls" have been an ever increasing problem for almost if not every UK household for years. While measures can be taken such as registering with the telephone preference service, setting up call barring from witheld numbers etc can be taken, unscrupulous companies have rendered these useless by moving their call centres overseas which bypasses these measures.

Noone ever asked for these calls, noone wants these calls and many experience anger, frustration and distress as a result of these calls, all in the privacy of their own home. This can never be right.

Recent Government legislation to make it easier to prosecute cold calling firms is merely a plaster on a huge wound and simply doesn't go far enough.

This petition is calling for the following:

1. Cold calling residential telephone numbers to be banned from ANY organisation including, but not limited to businesses, law firms and/or their agents, and charities unless an EXPRESS request has been made directly to the company by a consumer for that contact to be made.

2. Sharing/selling of customer databases, personal and contact information between organisations for the purposes of telephone marketing to be banned.
