If you are a supporter of Dr. Povey and his PhD students, please join us in petitioning the Johns Hopkins University for the following:
1. Give Dr. Povey's PhD students enough support to finish their PhD dissertation, including with the option of under Dr. Povey's advisorship if they choose so.
2. Retract the constraints* on how Dr. Povey could communicate with his PhD students, and allow Dr. Povey on JHU campus for academic activities.
3. Be transparent and conclusive in Dr. Povey's investigation by releasing the evidence, and allowing one observer from the group of Dr. Povey's students in the investigation.
4. Consider to rehire Dr. Povey as his leaving significantly weakens JHU's standing in computer science and AI.
*: Current constraints are: [Dr. Povey] "will be permitted to communicate with such students only by email, Skype/Zoom, or telephone and only under the supervision of another member of JHU faculty or staff (not including postdoctoral fellows)"; [Dr. Povey is] "prohibited from entering campus or University property, prohibited from contact by any means with any other students or postdoctoral fellows"; [Dr. Povey] "may engage with faculty colleagues only with prior approval of the Dean's Office".
