Tell Congress: Reject Foreign Price-Setting Policies That Threaten Patients & Innovation

New Jersey is at the heart of America's biopharmaceutical economy, generating $121 billion in annual economic impact and supporting more than 350,000 jobs, while developing treatments that millions of Patients rely on. Now, leaders in Washington are considering a policy that would threaten that leadership.

Most Favored Nation (MFN) policies and other international reference pricing policies would effectively tie what the U.S. pays for medicines to prices set by foreign governments that have different systems than ours. If Washington advances MFN pricing policies, New Jersey's Patients and economy stand to lose the most. There is no evidence that MFN would deliver cost savings for New Jersey Patients. Instead, MFN will result in Patients waiting longer for innovative cures and experiencing the rationing that delays treatment access in many foreign markets.

Take action today by sending a letter to your members of Congress urging them to reject MFN policies that threaten Patient access and the local economy.
Dear [send:full_name],

As your constituent, I urge you to reject Most Favored Nation (MFN) and other foreign reference pricing policies that would effectively tie U.S. drug prices to those set by other governments abroad. MFN will neither lower what patients pay at the pharmacy counter, nor address the insurer and pharmacy benefit manager practices driving out-of-pocket cost increases.

For New Jersey, MFN will result in patients waiting longer for innovative cures and facing the rationing that delays treatment access in many foreign markets today. Medicines approved in the EU take an average of 597 days to reach patients, and 49% of FDA-approved medicines aren't even available in Europe.

MFN will also negatively impact our state's ability to develop, test, and deliver lifesaving treatments, hurting the economy and threatening our standing as the "Medicine Chest of the World." New Jersey is an epicenter of America's biopharmaceutical economy, generating $121 billion in annual economic impact and supporting more than 350,000 jobs across our state. If Washington moves forward with MFN, New Jersey will be hit the hardest, particularly the smallest companies who hold 70% of the industry's clinical-stage pipeline.

New Jerseyans like me are counting on you to reject MFN. Instead, please focus on addressing the misaligned incentives that increase profits for insurers, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and other intermediaries while increasing costs for patients.

Thank you for standing up for New Jersey patients and the life sciences workers who power our state.

Sincerely,
