Help Women and Girls Access Health Services!

One year of COVID-19 has reversed 20 years of progress in reducing poverty and improving the health and rights of women and children.

COVID-19 has had significant impacts on vulnerable populations in countries like Myanmar, where Zin Mar lives. This impact is disproportionately experienced by women and girls. COVID-19 restrictions, food supply chain interruptions and economic recession block their rights in accessing health services, making their own health decisions, and accessing nutritious foods.

World Vision Canada is redoubling their efforts to reinforce programs like the Canadian government sponsored 1000 Day Journey which focuses on providing resources and education on maternal health and gender equality. Over the past five years, with support from the 1000 Day Journey, Zin Mar's village has become more prosperous.  These supports have improved gender dynamics in households, schools and communities which help women like Zin Mar and their families overcome life-changing shocks.

With your support, World Vision Canada and the Canadian Government can continue to assist in providing life-saving maternal health services and gender equality education for the most vulnerable.

Despite the challenges of COVID-19, every child deserves the hope of a brighter tomorrow. Canadian voices are critical in helping communities like Zin Mar's and ensuring that the health and rights of women and children are not lost.

Sign the petition if you believe that vulnerable communities, especially women and girls, have a right to gender equality and life-saving health services through and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
