Stop More Needless Child Deaths

Over 100 days ago, Ebola broke out in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Kids, families and communities are suffering as the virus outpaces the response.

Without urgent action, this outbreak will become the deadliest in history.

The U.S. could use millions in available foreign assistance funds to contain the chaos and save countless lives.

But every dollar expires at the end of September.

We can't let this money go to waste. Tell Congress to send lifesaving aid to children!

Congress has an opportunity to prevent further suffering for children around the world.

As of late August, there was a significant amount of appropriated but unobligated global health account funding set to expire at the end of FY26. Half of this money was notified for USAID close-out costs in May, but as a Save the Children Action Network Advocate, I ask you to insist these funds be used to reach families in crisis.

This money could deepen our response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is now the largest Ebola epidemic in history.

It could also provide routine childhood immunizations, disease treatment, malnutrition screenings, prenatal care and postpartum services – interventions that helped cut global child mortality in HALF since 2000.

As child deaths rise for the first time in decades, there's no more critical use for these unobligated foreign assistance funds. Please reach out to Office of Management and Budget and the State Department to insist they're not left to expire.

Thank you for ensuring no more children die needlessly.
