Show Your Support for America’s National Park Rangers!

For years, national park budgets have failed to keep up with the influx of visitors and the deterioration of trails, buildings, signs and even basic infrastructure like water pipes and restrooms, a situation made more challenging in the face of climate change.

Park rangers and staff have been forced to do more with less for years. But new spending bills in Congress could send help — and fast — by providing funding to:

  • Hire more park personnel to protect park resources and help visitors experience parks safely
  • Bring in experts and scientists to assess how climate change could damage parks — and figure out how to protect them
  • Restore, repair and protect historic structures to keep them safe from a changing climate
  • Launch a modern Civilian Climate Corps to create jobs and bring younger, more diverse people into careers protecting parks and public lands

The Senate's FY22 spending bills are almost finished — and if enough park advocates speak out right now, we can make sure that those bills include strong commitments to park rangers and the special places we all treasure.

Send a message to your U.S. senators now and tell them to send help to national park rangers and staff … thank you!
Dear [Decision maker],

As an advocate for America's parks, I am writing to ask you to help improve funding for national parks as FY22 spending legislation moves forward. Our national parks are struggling with significant understaffing and need help from leaders like you in Washington.

The National Park Service is having an even harder time taking care of our parks because visitation has been skyrocketing. Meanwhile, climate change is increasing the need to prepare for more floods, fire, heat, and storms, but there are too few staff to do the job.

Spending bills under consideration could send much-needed relief to national parks, the park rangers and staff who care for those places, and the communities that rely on parks for economic stability.

Please support measures that would increase park staffing, assess and address climate impacts to natural and cultural resources, restore park infrastructure, and launch a Civilian Climate Corps to create jobs and help make parks and public lands more resilient in the face of a changing climate.

Thank you for considering my views.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
