Refugees deserve safety on their dangerous journey across the Mediterranean Sea

There's a very serious crisis in the Mediterranean Sea. Right now, a mother is placing her young children, who can't swim, in an unsafe rickety boat. A family who survived bombs falling on their war-torn home is placing their safety and future in the hands of smugglers.
Last year, 2,262 people fleeing violence and persecution lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea. Already this year, an estimated 170 people have died or gone missing in two separate shipwrecks on the Mediterranean. These are only the lost lives that have been reported.
USA for UNHCR is deeply worried about refugees who are forced to make desperate journeys across the Mediterranean Sea in search of safety. They are without protection, resources or guidance — all they have is their hope. There must be safe and legal pathways for refugees to reach safety.
Show your compassion for people fleeing violence. Sign this petition and stand #WithRefugees so that no more lives are lost in the Mediterranean Sea.
As an American, I believe we must help people in their time of greatest need. I believe that refugees should have a safe place to live and build a better future.
I stand with the UN Refugee Agency in its mission to reach everyone in need with lifesaving aid and protection. But without enough support, food and assistance will be reduced or will not reach people driven from their homes.
I stand with the UN Refugee Agency to ensure every refugee child gets an education.
I stand with the UN Refugee Agency to ensure every refugee family has somewhere safe to live.
I stand with the UN Refugee Agency to ensure every refugee can work or learn new skills to make a positive contribution to their community.
I stand #WithRefugees.
