Mitt: Dying LGBT Americans Need Their Spouses Too
- von: Care2.com

It's bad enough that Mitt Romney signed a pledge sponsored by the hate group National Organization of Marriage to oppose gay marriage and support a constitutional amendment to prevent the government from recognizing same-sex marriages. But now, in his latest move to pander to extremists, he's calling the right to visit a dying spouse in a hospital a "privilege."
That is several leaps beyond too far.
Republicans have made inserting themselves into the privacy of people's relationships a political sport. But keeping a dying person's family from visiting them in the hospital goes beyond politics. It's just plain cruel.
Romney may not like LGBT families, but it's not the president's job to decide which families count. Tell Romney to renounce his position and support equal hospital visitation rights for LGBT couples.
Dear Gov. Romney,
I was appalled to hear that you think hospital visitation rights are a "privilege" and that states should get to decide if LGBT couples get the kindness and dignity to see their spouses and children while they are dying.
Same-sex couples may not look like your marriage, but it's not the job of the president to decide which families count enough to get equal rights and respect.

Your comments will be added here.]
As someone who wants to lead a country where a solid majority of people support the rights of same-sex couples to marry, I expect you renounce your hateful statement and support President Obama's policy mandating equal treatment of LGBT couples by all government-funded hospitals.
Sincerely,
