Mifepristone is safe and effective. I am writing to demand that an unprecedented, politically motivated FDA review DOES NOT result in the backdoor abortion ban the anti-abortion lobby seeks. Mifepristone must remain available in all 50 states, including via telehealth.For more than 25 years, mifepristone has been approved by the FDA for use and has a longstanding track record of safety and efficacy. More than 100 peer-reviewed studies have found mifepristone to be a safe and effective medication used in necessary reproductive health care, including for abortion and miscarriage. (1)Mifepristone is considered an essential medication by the World Health Organization. (1) A strong majority—across party lines—wants access to medication abortion to remain intact. (2)I urge you to follow the extensive existing research that has demonstrated mifepristone to be safe and effective, rather than respond to political pressure from the anti-abortion lobby.
