The Future of Golden Gate Park - Share Your Thoughts

There is a conflict between preservationists and those who wish to change or restore parts of Golden Gate Park. The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) wishes to designate the entire park as a historic landmark and would therefore have approval of any changes made to the park.

However, urban planners and others opposed argue that this would hinder the Recreation and Park Department's plans to upgrade paths, renovate buildings, and improve gardens, and that the park needs to be modernized to meet future visitors' needs.
