A Man Threw a Kitten Into a Fire Pit. The Poor Thing Didn't Survive. Justice for Phoenix!

In a truly unthinkable case of animal abuse, a little kitten was brutally thrown into an open fire pit in Portland, Tennessee. The tiny thing suffered from serious burns and injuries, including damage to his lungs. As is the case with most jurisdictions, the man suspected of the crime can continue to own as many animals as he'd like, potentially subjecting even more small cats to the same tragic fate. We must protect other animals from this kind of abuse!

Sign now to demand Portland Authorities sentence this man to a psychological evaluation, treatment, and a ban on ever owning animals again!

When authorities arrived on the scene, they found out that the suspected man was in custody of the kitten and had literally thrown the innocent animal into an open fire pit. To make matters worse, the man did not seek medical attention for 48 hours, which likely sealed the kitten's fate. While local nonprofit organization True Rescue did their best to save the cat, who they named Phoenix, he died a few days after rescue from burns and smoke inhalation.

The suspect was arrested, but clearly what this man needs is a psychological evaluation and possibly treatment. This behavior should be a clear flag to authorities that this person may need diagnoses and support from a professional. And regardless of if he serves time in jail or if he gets a formal diagnosis, this person clearly should not be allowed to ever own an animal again. We cannot let another kitten, or puppy, or other young pet end up with the same fate! Sign the petition now to tell Portland Authorities: prevent this man from ever owning a pet again and get him access to psychological treatment!
