Make healthcare affordable for all Floridians

Insured Floridians pay for health insurance with the expectation that they will be able to afford treatment when they or someone in their family gets sick. The reality, however, is that out-of-pocket costs are on the rise, especially for Floridians living with chronic conditions such as cancer, epilepsy, lupus, hepatitis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Health insurers in our state are increasingly designing their plans in order to shift larger portions of health care costs onto those with chronic diseases by increasing out-of-pocket costs for critical treatments. As a result, the sickest among us are facing tough choices

Enough is enough. We need to raise awareness of discriminatory health insurance practices that keep Florida families from essential treatment – and support policies in our state that make insurance coverage more transparent and equitable.
