Asylum should mean safety. Instead it means years spent waiting for a life changing decision. Not able to work. Not able to provide for your family. Just waiting. Often hungry. Sometimes homeless.
This is not the spirit of asylum – a system that's supposed to protect people who've fled the horror of war and persecution.
We want a system that is fair to people in desperate situations. A system that's effective in assessing people's cases, that makes the right decision the first time around and then helps people to move on with their lives.
Ask the Home Secretary Sajid Javid to reform the asylum system into one that works for everyone – sign the petition now.
