Tell the Senate: Support Black Maternal Health in Climate Investment Package

Right now, the Senate is considering federal investments in clean energy, clean air, and climate solutions. This is an important moment for the Senate to commit to historic investments in improving maternal health and addressing the enormous and unjust health disparities faced by Black women before, during, and after pregnancy.

We know that communities of color are hardest hit by health impacts from climate change. Raise your voice to tell the Senate to invest in improving Black maternal health, including investing community-based programs and identifying climate risk zones for pregnant and postpartum people.

SPEAK OUT: Tell the Senate to support Black maternal health in upcoming climate investments.

To whom it may concern:

I am a parent concerned about climate change, and the impact the climate crisis is having on mothers' and children's health. I urge you to support Black maternal health in upcoming climate investments. It's a crisis that moms are dying at the highest rate in the developed world. And the crisis is even more severe for Black mothers, who are dying at 3 to 4 times the rate of white moms. We must do better.

One critical component of upcoming legislation is focused on mitigating the impacts from climate change on moms and babies. This provision invests in community-based programs and calls for the identification of climate risk zones for pregnant and postpartum people.

You have the opportunity to directly impact the Black maternal health crisis and the effects of climate change on Black communities. I urge you to support Black maternal health in upcoming climate investments.
