Protect Colorado's health and environment from devastating wildfires!

Of the 10 largest wildfires in Colorado's recorded history, seven have occurred since 2010, and the problem is only likely to get worse as our climate warms. Colorado has experienced first-hand the devastating effects of worsening wildfires as a result of both climate change and lack of adequate resources for proper fire mitigation. Help us support more state resources to mitigate against the worst damages of wildfires.

These fires don't just devastate Colorado's forests and communities, they also put the health of all Coloradans at risk.

Wildfires not only cause immediate harm like death, burns, smoke inhalation, and traumatic injuries, they also worsen our air quality by releasing harmful pollutants like ozone, carbon dioxide, and particulate matter. Poor air quality causes numerous acute respiratory illnesses like lung cancer, COPD, or asthma. Over time, chronic exposure to air pollutants can even result in premature death.

Colorado urgently needs to address the problem, both by addressing climate-change head on and providing the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) with additional funds to carry out wildfire mitigation and forest management.

Actions taken this year by our elected leaders can provide local community groups and governments with tools to increase resiliency, prevent catastrophic wildfire damage, and increase health of Coloradans.

Help Healthy Air and Water Colorado advocate for urgent solutions to stop the worst of the fallout. Add your name today to join the call to empower our DNR to address the wildfire crisis in Colorado.
