Don't Leave Texans Uninsured
Texas legislators are deciding right now whether our state will accept critical federal funds which would provide health care to hard-working, low-income families in dire need of coverage while creating jobs. Yet Gov. Rick Perry and some lawmakers want to block this money, leaving Texas to continue struggling to care for the uninsured.
Lawmakers are already meeting on this issue, and we need you to raise your voice. Write your legislators and tell them to ensure our tax dollars are invested in building a better health care system for hard working Texans.
We can't allow Texas to lose out on billions of dollars set aside to extend Medicaid coverage to all low-income working people in our state.

We the undersigned urge you to approve the extension of Medicaid coverage to most Texans with incomes up to 138% of the poverty level, as provided in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Texas has the highest rates of uninsured in the country, but extending Medicaid coverage as provided by the ACA is estimated to provide coverage for more than a million uninsured Texans, particularly low-wage workers and parents. Moreover, expanding Medicaid is fully funded in the first three years by the federal government and in later years Texas will never have to pay more than 10%.
