JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED: Dominican Republic Prosecutor’s Disinterest Indefinitely Detains 3 Innocent Delray Beach Men in the DR

In late July 2020, John Nalus and his brothers traveled to the Dominican Republic for a short trip to visit family. On August 2, their rental car broke down. After the car was towed, video evidence recorded unknown men planting a 4-pound package of marijuana in the car. Yet the Nalus brothers were arrested and imprisoned. CBS12 News has covered their ordeal in detail, alerting viewers to real dangers awaiting visitors to this country.

The Dominican Republic's judicial process allows for up to 3 months of pretrial detainment prior to an initial hearing. The brothers spent 6 weeks in prison before their congressional representative and the US Embassy secured a hearing; they were released on bond but required to remain in the DR while their case worked its way through the court system. Since then, the Nalus brothers have met each court requirement. The prosecutor has brought no charges but, against the judge's order, has failed to return their passports, delaying closure of the case. Due to the prosecutor's refusal to act in good faith, the brothers are now forced to wait for yet another hearing on May 3rd which could result in nothing more than further delays.

John and his brothers are not guilty of any crime. Yet their lives have been cruelly curtailed for 9 months, at a cost of at least $24,000 in legal fees--a crippling financial burden for their family.

Show the Nalus brothers that we care: please sign this petition urging the Dominican Republic to end this injustice, close this case, return the Nalus Brother's Passports (as the Judge has already ordered), and let these young men return to their family in Florida.

SUMMATION / SOLUTION:

This Petition is a Demand that Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, Chief Prosecutor lawfully and rightfully follow the judicial order to release the Nalus Brothers/these four men's passports, immediately.

Know, a growing number of our fellow Petitioners, CIVILIZATION ASSISTANCE BUREAU'S Social Action and Civil Action Patriots/Supporters -- headed up by Care2.comowner/investor Dr Michael Greene/SFFMG, LLC [Florida] -- have pledged to boycott, and not purchase, Dominican Republic related products, and are pledging to not cruise or travel to the DR, or do business with the DR or its affiliates.

We wish to amicably remedy this matter, and get past this apparently unjust treatment of US Citizens, and American's rights and freedom, but the DR must lawfully regard the judicial order to return the brothers' passports, drop all charges, and respect the United States of America and our Citizens!
