A legal wall for visual artistry in Canterbury, Kent

We have a community of graffiti artists in Canterbury and an ever growing "problem" with "scrawl" on walls. Why don't we legalise the use of unpainted spaces as "legal walls" for painting, and encourage young people to hone their skills through workshops led by prolific artists from the community, so they have a way of expressing themselves in a constructive, disciplined, and beautiful manner.

Look at what legal walls have done for both Bristol and Brighton.

With the right encouragement, we could have disused/unpainted spaces made to look beautiful at no extra cost to the tax payer.

Conceivably, there could be constraints on certain walls that state the work that goes up needs to reminiscent of what makes Canterbury "Canterbury". That way we could have hundreds of artists that present Canterbury through their eyes.

This idea, I feel, could help solve the graffiti "crisis" and would help beautify this vibrant city that we live in, whilst helping our younger communities to express themselves and develop their abilities further.

The picture is an example of the sort of work could be produced. I currently don't know who to credit for it but will add them in as and when I find out.
