Join Our Fight To End Violence Against Children

Today, children are more at risk in conflict than any time in the last 20 years. Warring parties are bombing schools and hospitals on a scale not seen for decades, take action by adding your name to join our fight against violence on children.

In countries like Yemen and Syria, children are trapped by the horrors of war. They need to be protected and given the chance to just be children again. Children like Reema*, 10 years old and her sister Laila*, 2, pictured above, are internally displaced with their family in North East Syria.

Every day, bombs destroy children's houses, hospitals and schools. Their friends are shot and injured. Their families are killed. There isn't anywhere they feel safe. Not at home. Not at school. Not on the streets where they used to play. Not even at the hospital.

Despite the collective efforts of the international community, brutal tactics are still commonly used against children: children are used as suicide bombers, their schools are directly targeted, and the widespread use of indiscriminate weapons like cluster munitions, barrel bombs and improvised explosive devices make no distinction between soldiers and children.

WHAT WE ARE CALLING FOR:
- World leaders must always uphold international laws and standards to protect children in conflict
- Anyone who commits a war crime against children must be held accountable
- Preventing children being put at risk
- Children in warzones need practical support on the ground — including the right mental health support

Deeply concerning, sexual violence against children is on the rise and used as a weapon of war.

These children risk being killed and raped, forced into prostitution, unwanted pregnancies, forced sterilizations and abortions. They are also mutilated and sexually tortured.
