Bring Aaron Walter Foster, Sr. to Justice for the Murder of Barbara L. Winn

Dear Friend,On May 8, 1981 Barbara L. Winn was murdered by her boyfriend after she told him to pack his things and move out of her Maplewood, Minnesota home.  Barbara's children heard a violent fight between their mother and Aaron Walter Foster, Sr., followed by a gunshot.  The children ran, immediately, to their mother's bedroom, and when they arrived, Foster was still in the room, but he left the room and ran downstairs to use the phone.  Barbara's children found her standing in a corner of her bedroom...dying from a gunshot wound to her chest.  Foster returned to the room and laid Barbara face down on the floor where she died in front of her three children.  Foster took the gun from the room and left the residence.  He threw the gun out of the car window, went to a nearby store, and returned to Barbara's residence a few minutes later.  When police arrived, Foster told them that he had been downstairs packing his belongings in to his car when he heard a gunshot.  He stated that he went upstairs to see what had happened and that Barbara told him, "I shot myself...get rid of the gun."  Foster told police where to find the gun, which did in fact belong to him.Barbara had cuts, scratches, and bruises on her face and body from the fight she had with Foster moments before she was shot and died.  Foster was never charged with Barbara's murder.  You will learn a great deal about this case by visiting Barbara's web site: www.justiceforbarbara.com

To:Robert JohnsonAnoka County AttorneyFelony Prosecution2100 Third AvenueAnoka, Minnesota 55303763-323-5586Dear Robert Johnson,It is time to bring Aaron Walter Foster, Sr. to justice.  There is more than enough evidence in this case to support an indictment and, in the interest of justice, it is your duty to issue an arrest warrant for and to file charges against Aaron Walter Foster, Sr. for the murder of Barbara L. Winn.Failure to charge and prosecute Aaron Foster, to the fullest extent of the law, will make a mockery of the justice system, roll back and/or undo the many accomplishments made, since 1981, by the Domestic Violence Organizations, and it will set a very dangerous precedent for women who are in and trying to escape from violent relationships.  Moreover, failure to charge Aaron Foster for the murder of Barbara Winn will further enable him to subject women to his violent behavior and to, potentially, kill again! In 1981, Domestic Violence was not viewed or addressed by society as the serious and deadly issue it truly is.  Nor did the judicial system prosecute such cases with the zeal, commitment, and compassion with which it does today.  It is now 2007 and society, law enforcement, and our judicial system address and prosecute cases involving domestic violence quite differently than was done in 1981.  The consequences for perpetrators of Domestic Violence, today, are far harsher than in 1981, as well.  Given the mounting evidence against Aaron Foster, you must now prosecute this case according to present day standards...not with those used in 1981.Respectfully,
