Request for Treatment Protocols for current AHS outbreak from AHS Trust

Many of us have been through the loss of a beloved equine to AHS, we have also seen the wonderful results often achieved by horse owners using alternative treatment methods.  AHS Trust and Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute gather information supplied by horse owners of AHS cases as well as treatment protocols used.  We would like to share the treament protocols with horse owners to ensure fewer animals need to suffer the horrible outcomes this disease often has.

Dear Sirs / Madams,





We the undersigned are a group of concerned equine owners, who are very anxious to understand what the best protocol for the management of African Horse Sickness is at the moment.





We understand that people reporting give you an indication as to what they treated the disease with.  Can you therefore tell us what treatments are having the lowest mortality figures in the current outbreak.





Our findings, on a group of more than 700 users, are that alternative treatments (Homeopathic, Herbal, and MMS) are having successes with mortality rates far lower than those mentioned on the AHS website and in some cases there are 100% survival rates even in larger herds.





Your help would be most appreciated.
