Dissection is cruel and really has no purpose. “Real Hands On Experience” can be achieved in many different ways besides having to cut open a poor defense-less little creature. Instead students could use a computer program, a three-dimensional diagram, or just read about it in a book. The need for actually dissecting the animals is no longer because of the increase in our society’s technology. Since the is no need and many students do not wish to dissection (on moral beliefs), dissection should either be banned or the school district should have animal-friendly options. If you sign this petition you agree with me in thinking that these options should be provided for any student not wishing to dissect and that that student will not be persecuted for his or her choice not to participate in the dissection. Thank you for caring and remember each signature makes a difference. With each signature, we make it closer to reaching our goal and helping many students stick to their moral beliefs without being punished and many animals remain safe from a cruel death followed by being cut into and then just disposed off. Against many students moral beliefs they were forced to dissect or fail the class. Failing is usually not an option for many students in high school, but that doesn%u2019t mean that dissection should have to happen for the student not to fail. Students have the right to have options. After all isn%u2019t school about learning and furthering education. Failing a student because he or she will not go against his or her moral beliefs is wrong on so many levels. Students should have dissection options such as a computer program (Making the student just watch the dissection take place is not an option. That is just as bad as actually doing the dissection). I hope that you have looked over the petition with all the signatures and realized that dissection is a big deal and many people wish there to be animal-friendly options to dissection. I can only hope that you will considered what has been said and do something about it.
