Help the elephants at Busch Gardens Florida

Having visited Busch Gardens for the first time recently, my husband and I were appalled at the condition of the elephants and their enclosure.
These majestic animals were clearly in a distressed state :- one was rocking from one side to the other continuously ; one other was trying to give another elephant -who was obviously unwell - a drink of water from her trunk - unfortunately it was only dry earth she was putting into the other's mouth as there was no water in that area, but she didn't seem to know that. She then proceded to put her trunk around the other smaller elephant for comfort - a cuddle.  There was a speaker relentlessly pounding out pop music nearby, perhaps that is why the rocking elephant was rocking, thinking he had to dance all the time with no respite.
We complained to management and made a written compaint too. We were assured that this would be looked in to and we would have a reply to our complaint. That was three weeks ago and we have heard nothing, and nothing has been done to help these beautiful creatures.
The rhinocerous fared no better, all he was doing was trying to escape, but he was in solitary confinment as we could see no other company for him.
We dared not look at any other animals in their confined state, though we have heard that the monkeys and gorillas are in awful conditions too.
This is highly upsetting and uncalled for - and against the policy of the company that says it saves wild life. What does it save wild life for- nothing more than monetary gains for itself.
Please sign this petition - please go and see these animals for yourselves and then complain to customer services and harass them until something is done to help.
Mr Charlie Crist                                          The Management
The Governor of Florida                              Busch Gardens  Florida

We the undersigned are concerned for the welfare, both physically and
mentally, of the animals being used as attractions in Busch Gardens, Florida.
We would particularly like to concentrate on the elephants.

Elephants are majestic animals, given to longevity and are very family orientated. It is not their nature to stay in the same place, but to roam around a large area using familiar trails.
Man, in this case the management of Busch Gardens, has curtailed the freedom of these animals. Captivity can either be in  controlled conditions emulating their natural habitat - or in an incorrect idea of what conditions would suit an elephant.
A tolerable life, that can be comfortable or a living hell that would go on and on, given their length of life.
It would seem that in Busch Gardens, these poor creatures fall into the latter category.  They look unhealthy, depressed and show signs of repetitive actions - continuous rocking from side to side - indicating mental deterioration. The continuous music annoy them too. They bond and care for each other, when one is ill another will try to look after it. This is happening here, elephants trying to comfort each other. They are very unhappy.
Elephants, like us, cry. They have emotions like us. They care for each other, like us.
They cannot take charge of their lives in this instant, so it is up to all of us to take responsibility to see that they are treated as well as they should be.
Thousands of holiday-makers see these animals every day - very many are distressed to see them as they are now kept. Many people go back to their relative states and countries thinking that Florida is not the 'sunshine state ' that it is supposed to be.
We therefore call on you Mr Charlie Crist, as Govenor of Florida, to look to these matters for us, the undersigned, to help navigate the thinking of Busch Garden's management towards making an ideal elephant home - whereby the elephants would be content, and the paying holiday-makers content  to see them in that enviroment.
We thank you, sir for taking the time to read this letter, and hope that you too will be touched by their plight and able to act constructively for the good.
