A crucial insect necessary for the environment and vegetation is in ultimate danger of extinction, only showing a small population near Miami.  The Miami Tiger Beetle is a unique creature with a shiny dark green back is only known to survive in two separate, very small populations in Miami’s disappearing pine Rocklands—one in the Richmond Pine Rocklands and another discovered this year a few miles from there and separated by urban development.

The concern is that, without intervention, this beetle will be in danger of extinction and we need to be diligent in asking for help in getting it protected under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and it is something that must be accomplished by February 22, 2016.  You can read further info on this issue at http://www.fws.gov/news/ShowNews.cfm?ref=-------------------u.s.-fish-and-wildlife-service-proposes-to-list-miami-&_ID=35402We need to take immediate steps to ensure the continual safety of the Miami Tiger Beetle.

Our efforts in this petition is to encourage the USFWS to guarantee the protection of the Miami Tiger Beetle under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and to do so in a diligent manner.  You can help us in our efforts to save this beetle by signing and sharing this petition. Speak out in favor of saving this beetle through these efforts.

U. S. Fish & Wildlife Services – We strongly urge you to list the Miami Tiger Beetle under the protection of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and ensure that it is no longer in danger of extinction. Please be diligent in protecting this beetle.
