According to the ASPCA, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals (670,000 dogs 🐶 and 860,000 cats 🐱) are euthanised each year, presumably in shelters and "rescues". THIS SHOULD NOT CONTINUE!!!!!!!!! To be fair, not all the staff and volunteers at the shelters and rescues want the animals killed or don't care. Many would claim to really care about the animals and want them to be adopted and not killed.
However, more work needs to be done by the US Government, Congress, charities, the public, breeders, the wealthy and other governments to help the homeless animals of the USA and everywhere else.
This is what I would like to be done by the US Government and Congress regarding this issue:
* More Government and Congress money put towards animal shelters and rescues, e.g. putting more money towards individual shelters, rescues and societies in every state.
* More Government and Congress funded and conducted TNR programmes for strays.
* More Government and Congress funded veterinary treatment and care for homeless animals and those in need.
* Serious work towards making every shelter and rescue in the USA and elsewhere no-kill.
* More Government and Congress funded rescue work.
* More effort by the Government and Congress to educate people about dogs 🐶, cats 🐱, etc., their behaviour, their care needs, how to be responsible and what they can do to help animals in need.
* More effort by the Government and Congress to encourage adoption and volunteering at animal shelters and rescues.
* Donald Trump and other members of the US Government and Congress to adopt rescued animals from kill shelters and "rescues" (if approved by the shelters and "rescues") and give them the best homes possible. Donald Trump and the others could benefit from adopting rescued animals, and be taught lessons in compassion and love for sentient beings!
