Out of 7 plastics that you use in your day to day lives only 2 are recyclable. The plastics that you have recycled which can’t be recycled ends up in the landfill site. Most small scale oil treatment centres use something known as the acid-day process. This process gets impurities out of the oil, but leaves you with toxic sludge containing all of those impurities, plus dangerous chemicals like hydrochloric acid. The toxic sludge being more dangerous and harmful to not only our environment but us, recycling is a tricky process which doesn’t need to be taken. Is recycling plastics more important than the majority of the populations health.
Recycling might seem like a good idea in hindsight, but the process of decomposition is more harmful than actual landfill sites. And yes, or landfill sites are filling, but the best way to actually recycle to the plastics is not to turn it into toxic sludge, but maybe melting it don and into something that can be used in day to day life, not being thrown out when used.
Most rubbish found at a beach is plastic. Bottle caps, ice-cream tubs, bottles, straws, drug baggies, plastic can hoop, and not only are they contaminating our beach, but our water. Putting our sea life at danger, and risk of injury. Can you imagine someone you love swimming in irresponsible waste? Then don’t litter!
