Bury the Lines on Long Beach!

Mayor Jeff Sander, working with the Southampton Town Board and PSEG, has gotten a workable cost estimate for burying the power lines along Long Beach, which will make it better to withstand major storms and avoiding outages, beautifying this already precious expanse of beach, and which will only take a few weeks to complete once the project is approved.

Improved and expanded cables will be used, osprey nests will remain, and it could in fact happen as early as this fall after the ospreys have left.

Please support this great initiative by signing this petition. If this works out, it could be a most positive model for the whole East End! If not, poles will be higher and hardened and the beach will be ruined for the foreseeable future. There will be a bond voted on and estimates for an average household would $25/year.
