Stop killing animals in Shelters.

I want to stop the killing of animals in shelters who either get picked up randomly or brought in cages. Most shelters only keep pets one to three days. Lets stop that. If a shelter can accept pets than it should be able to find homes for those pets who can be adopted out, or find an adoption facility to transport them to. I realize not all pets picked up can be readopted out but at least give the ones who can a chance longer than three days.
We the undersinged would like to stop the killing of animals when they are picked up by animal shelters. If the pet can be adopted out, it should be. If the pet cannot then we understand it must be put to sleep. We do not think there should be a time limit on an animals life. We believe if a pet cannot be adopted out in a timely manner for that facility then it should be that facility's obligation to find another facility or place for that animal. Thank you for understanding that a pet is much like a child to most of us, and we all know that a child has no time limit on it's adoption time. We would not put a human to sleep becuase it was too ugly for anyone to want. Thank you for taking the time to listen and think about our letter.
