Justice must be sought for Belinda........

According to Capt. Andy Locklair of the Darlington County Sheriff Office, Veronica Crawford, 29, of1103 Foxhall Dr.of Florence, is accused of leaving her dog tied up in a bag on her property for more than 72 hours.

A worker at the Darlington County Animal Shelter said “Belinda,” a hound mix, was severely dehydrated when she arrived at the shelter on Thursday. She also had an embedded collar.

According to Lockair, Crawford called Darlington County Animal Control on Monday, June 11. During the call, Crawford said she no longer wanted the dog and requested that it be picked up. She was informed that because it was her dog, she would have to bring it in and fill out paperwork.

On Thursday, according to Locklair, Crawford called Animal Control once again and requested that the dog be picked up. She told the person on the phone that the dog had been tied up in a bag on her property since Monday.

Animal Control then contacted the Sheriff’s Office, which dispatched deputies to the residence. The dehydrated dog was found with its head protruding from an orange bag. The dog was taken to the shelter to receive medical treatment.

Crawford was arrested and taken to the Darlington County Detention Center where she was booked and released.

She needs to be charged to the fullest extent of the law for S.C.
