Support FWS Proposal & List African Lion under Endangered Species Act

The African lion is still among those on the endangered list and we need to urge the President to take crucial steps supporting the Fish and Wildlife Service's proposal to list the African lion as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The number of lions that exist in the wild, according to the National Geographic has dwindled from more than 450,000 in the 1940s to only about 20,000 or less to date.

As stated at http://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/save-the-african-lion/, this majestic animal is on a continual decline. Some of the main contributing factors is trophy hunting and loss of habitat. There is also a huge need in the trade market for the use of lion bones and other illegal factors.    We have endeavored to get the African Lion on the Endangered Species Act to prevent American involvement in the carnage, and we continue to push for a final ruling on our request.

Through the efforts of this petition, we are imploring President Obama and his administration to increase protection for the lion and decrease trade, especially commercial trade in lion parts. We need him to support the Fish and Wildlife Service's proposal to list the African lion as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. You can help by signing and sharing this petition.

President Barack Obama - We are implore you and your administration to increase protection for the lion and decrease trade, especially commercial trade in lion parts.
