Oppose Mountain Lion Hunting in Nebraska
The mountain lion was eliminated from the state in 1890 and there is only a small breeding population of mountain lions in Nebraska, about 22; way too small to consider hunting.
Yet, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is considering issuing hunting permits to kill cougars for both boot hunting and hunting with the use of dogs, by way of determining through lottery winners.
Hunting cougars will not reduce conflicts, and only instill fear for an keystone species critical to a healthy ecosystem, not to menting hunting cornering animals with hunting dogs is excessively cruel and unnecessary. We ask Nebraska Game and Parks Commisson not to issue permits to kill the cougars. Stop the killing and learn to live with the animal- or relocate them.
