France- Protect Endangered Lynx

In the 19th century, after years of intensive hunting, deforestation, reduction of prey, the Eurasian lynx had completely disappeared from French forests. It was reintroduced, but the population remains fragile with about 200.

The lynx has been listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature since 2009; and in France by special decree of 1981. However, the lynx is hunted regularly by ranchers and hunters who take every opportunity to get permission to shoot the cats.

Considered a keystone species, the lynx is critical in the balance of a healthy forest ecosystem. We ask that you make a conservation plan a priority and protect the lynx in France.
