Pledge To Inform Friends/Colleagues About Adopt. Don't Shop

The other day, a co-worker let me in on the fact that she was looking for a new dog. Her golden lab died a while back & she felt it was time to begin the search for a new beloved companion. I was a little surprised to see her browsing the newspaper for puppies, being sold from $200-550. Surely, she knows the plight of shelter dogs & how buying from breeders only exacerbates the problem. I encouraged her in a polite & positive manner to at least look at the shelter. I think she wanted a puppy due to her wanting to raise & train the pup herself. She seemed to have a slightly negative attitude about shelter pets, believing perhaps that shelter pets have been given up because they have problems. I wish she would have been more receptive to the idea, but at least I tried. Animals have no voices, so I wanted to speak up for them. I encourage everyone to do so. Take this pledge saying "Yes, I will use my voice for animals in need!" Thank you.
