Protect Abandoned Ponies in Wales!

Over 40 dead horses and ponies have been found in Welsh fields in the past few months due to harsh weather, worms and starvation. Charity workers found 14 ponies in Gwent over the last week. The RSPCA believes the animals have been illegally abandoned by their owners.

The epidemic of dead horses is much worse than in previous years. Ann Keating, founder of the Welsh Ponies Rescue and Rehoming Project (WPRRP) believes numbers are higher this year because of poor market sales and the recent meat scandal.

Microchipping ponies and horses before they can be sold is Welsh law, but many are sold illegally due to the high cost of microchipping. This makes it impossible to trace the dead animals to their negligent owners. Please sign the petition to tell the Welsh Governers to crack down on illegal horse ownership and create a better database system to trace horses to their owners!

As you know, the epidemic of dead horses is much worse than in previous years. Ann Keating, founder of the Welsh Ponies Rescue and Rehoming Project (WPRRP) believes numbers are higher this year because of poor market sales and the recent meat scandal.

We know that microchipping ponies and horses before they can be sold is Welsh law, but many are sold illegally due to the high cost of microchipping. This makes it impossible to trace the dead animals to their negligent owners. We respectfully urge you take measures to prevent illegal horse ownership and create a better database system to trace horses to their owners. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
