Hi, our names are Max, Bruno, Valentina and Stefano. We are Year 6 students and, as part of our Exhibition, we are here to take action towards reducing Habitat Destruction.
Habitat Destruction is basically when humans destroy natural habitats for financial benefits. It might not seem that bad at first glance but disrupting natural cycles and habitats may result in more critical issues like animal extinction and Global Warming, both of which pose great risks to our existence on our planet.
According to the organization Oikos, nearly 60% of the world's habitat is now covered by agricultural lands and farms. Agricultural lands and farms degrade habitats and convert them to such an extent that they are not able to sustain what they once could. Nearly 322 species have become extinct in the last 500 years. Humans are endangering life on Earth and we are not prioritising wilderness preservation and human survival.
Animals like the Amur Leopard and the Sumatran Elephant are critically endangered mainly due to human interference with natural habitats. With only 57 left in the world, the Amur Leopard is only one of the thousands of endangered species worldwide.
You can save the world.
You can take action.
